Amanda Green is the daughter of lyricist and screenwriter Adolph Green and actress/singer Phyllis Newman. Both a writer and performer, she was nominated for a Drama Critic's Circle Award in 2001 for her musical Up the Week Without a Paddle; and her songs were used in the Broadway show Nothing Like a Dame while she has appeared on Broadway herself in a revival of her father's musical Wonderful Town, among other productions.
