Biirdie are the trio of Jared Flamm, Kala Savage, and Richard Gowen. Flamm is the principal songwriter (though he sometimes collaborates with Savage) on their debut album, Morning Kills the Dark, which combines whimsy and bittersweet subdued dejection that echoes the work of early-'70s British singer/songwriters who mined a similar mindset. ~ Richie Unterberger
