Born in Brooklyn but raised in Jamaica, Queens, rapper Blvd Benny got his start as hypeman and opening act for his homeboy, Craig Mack. Winning the 2000 Coca Cola True Talent Search at the famous Apollo Theater earned him a spot in a television commercial for Coke, and then in 2002 he began writing for other artists. With all the proceeds going to UNICEF, an appearance on the 2005 charity single "Nino Esperanza" helped Benny honor his parents' homeland of Ecuador. In 2008 he stepped out from behind the scenes and released a series of mixtapes, including The Formula with DJ Absolut. ~ David JeffriesPortions of Content Provided by Rovi Corporation.
