During an exhaustive study regarding use of the name "Buddy" in recording credits, lab assistant Igor was sent off on a research project involving a somewhat notorious indie rock label, Shimmydisc. The length of time spent on the ensuing research was in itself overwhelming; suffice to say that certain associates of the lab assistant were so worried about what might have happened to him that they were unable to perform their normal functions, except of course the hangman who never rests.
Igor himself was quite happy about the results of his mission. "We may now have a recording credit attributed to an animal," he beamed, no doubt already imagining the thrill of adding another such credit to the thrilling list of birds, dogs, cats, fish, even a llama, that have wound up with recording credits. In this case Buddy seems to have been a cat, perhaps even one belonging to someone connected with the label itself. At any rate, Buddy received a credit for graphic design on a 1996 Shimmydisc release by the Semibeings. "The name of the band is in itself a clue about the relative humanity of the participants -- and I oughta know about that!," Igor added. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, Rovi
