A two-time Grammy-winning jazz singer, Dee Dee Bridgewater is a dynamic performer whose scat-infused style is steeped in the jazz and R&B traditions. Emerging in New York in the '70s, she sang with the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra, before gaining acclaim on Broadway for her Tony Award-winning performance as Glinda the Good Witch in The Wiz. She released a handful of crossover jazz/R&B albums, including 1976's Dee Dee Bridgewater, before moving to France and starring in the musical Sophisticated Ladies.
