This vocal/instrumental rock group was formed in Brasília (Distrito Federal) in 1984 by Rodrigo Leitão (vocals), José Flores (guitar), Neto Pavanelli (bass/keyboards), and Ronaldo Pereira (drums/percussion). With influences of English bands like Joy Division and the Cure, the Finis Africae soon were opening for Legião Urbana and Plebe Rude. Having included in the compilation "Rumores" (1985) the songs "Van Gogh" and "Ética," the band got good reviews and was invited to record their first solo album, the six-track mini-LP Finis Africae.
