Biography
A Swedish composer of symphonic and choral program music, including "Midsummer Vigil" (1903) and "Shepherd-Girl's Dance" (1923), whose symphonies are among the earliest of the great modern Swedish symphonies and are renowned for their virtuosic orchestral writing and color. The second symphony and the "Midsommarvaka, 'Swedish Rhapsody' no. 1," established his reputation; the symphony is a serious academic work, but both pieces have great Nordic flavor and scene-painting. ~ Blue Gene Tyranny
