Politically charged and known as a formidable live act, Karpe Diem is a Norwegian rap duo that debuted to Top Ten success in 2004 with the Glassk+Ñr EP. Founded in 2000 in Oslo, Norway, the duo is comprised of Magdi (born Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid of Egyptian and Norwegian heritage on June 3, 1984, in Oslo) and Chicosepoy (aka Chico; born Chirag Rashmikant Patel of Indian heritage on July 20, 1984, in L++renskog, Norway), plus DJ Marius Thingvald on turntables at times. Karpe Diem made their commercial recording debut in 2004 with the six-track Glassk+Ñr EP on Tuba Records. A Top Ten hit on the Norwegian singles chart, Glassk+Ñr paved the way for a recording contract with Bonnier Music. Karpe Diem subsequently made their full-length album debut in 2006 with Rett Fra Hjertet, a Top Ten hit on the albums chart that spawned the hit single "Piano." The follow-up album, Fire Vegger (2008), was a blockbuster success, going all the way to number three on the albums chart and spawning a series of hit singles ("Under Overflaten," "Fireogtyvegods," "Stjerner," "Vestkantsvartinga"), most of which were Top Ten hits. ~ Jason BirchmeierPortions of Content Provided by Rovi Corporation.
