    Larry Crane was John Mellencamp's sideman from the Chestnut Street Incident days of 1976 through the completion of Big Daddy in 1989. Over the years, he played lead guitar and various other stringed instruments, while adding a great deal to the overall flavor of each John Mellencamp album.
