Based in Cambridge, England but born in Barcelona, Spain, Oriol Singhji went by his first name only when he released his productions. He debuted on Planet Mu with the 2010 12GÇ¥ Coconut Coast, a memory-triggering hybrid of late-GÇÿ70s jazz fusion, early-GÇÿ80s electronic R&B, and early-2000s broken beat with all the handmade warmth of a Larry Heard production. It instantly made him a contemporary of both Floating Points and D+óm-Funk. Joined by a remix by FaltyDL, as well as remixes of another track on the flip side (contributed by Jake Slazenger and Shortstuff), the A-side was flexible enough to be spun in dubstep, house, and otherwise vintage synth funk sets. Two weeks after it was released, Planet Mu issued OriolGÇÖs first full-length, Night and Day. ~ Andy KellmanPortions of Content Provided by Rovi Corporation.
