Panamanian-born Ricardo and Alberto Gaitan became involved in popular music while attending the local conservatory, having their first performing experience when they formed a tropical act called Impakto. Business administration graduate Ricardo Gaitan and his brother Alberto Gaitan, who earned a law and political science degree, debuted as a duo with the release of Entrégate in 1997.
