Bringing together alternative rock tunes and punk rock-inspiring leads, the Beards ultimately forward breathtaking themes also displaying the band's better expertise. The Beards assembled in 2001 as a side project for vocalist and bassist Lisa Marr, formerly of Cub and of Buck; drummer Sherry Sollinger; alongside guitarist and vocalist Kim Shattuck of the Muffs. The all-female trio decided on recording their debut disc not long after forming, specially due to the success of "(I Am Always Touched By Your) Presence," a track created for the compilation How Many Bands Does It Take to Screw up a Blondie Tribute, distributed by Sympathy for the Record Industry. After securing the work of producer Jeff McDonald, the group promptly started working on their first disc. Funtown, the band's debut album, hit record stores in April of 2002. ~ Mario Mesquita BorgesPortions of Content Provided by Rovi Corporation.
