The Groupies

The Groupies made their name as a live act at New York's The Scene club in the mid-1960s, and signed to Atco for just one single, "Primitive," released in early 1966. A not-so-thin rewrite of "Smokestack Lightning," the record is a typical American garage derivation of the Rolling Stones and Yardbirds, and perhaps not as exciting as its reputation among garage devotees might indicate.
