One of the more rock-oriented acts on the Ninja Tune electronica/hip-hop label, the Qemists are a British drum'n'bass ensemble. Based in Brighton and coming from a collective non-techno background, the group channeled its considerable energy into a formidable, heavy-yet-danceable sound found on its full-length debut, Join the Q, which featured former Faith No More frontman Mike Patton and grime icon Wiley, among other notable guests. The duo's continued fusion of high-energy breakbeat dance and drum'n'bass contineud with 2010's Spirit in the System. ~ Eric Schneider
