A DJing and production team, the Tyrant sound system comprises Craig Richards (b. 1966, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England) and Lee Burridge, who initially rose to prominence as part of Sasha’s ‘Tyrant’ nights at The End club in London. They then moved on to a residency at Fabric, as well as making numerous other performances at clubs such as The Bomb, Golden, Cream and Gatecrasher as well as international engagements. The pair play an unusual blend of breakbeat, ambient styles, dub -influenced house and trance. They both served long DJing apprentices, Burridge DJing in Hong Kong and the Far East for several years. After training at St Martin’s College and The Royal College Of Art, Richards worked as a designer, graphic designer and photographer before pursuing music full-time. Richards also established the highly successful London club Malibu Stacey with Seb Fontaine in 1995 and was nominated for Best New DJ award at the UK’s Muzik magazine’s 1999 awards.
