Wello Rivas

Bolero composer Wello Rivas is best-known for his hit "Cenizas," which became something of a standard in the Spanish-speaking parts of the Caribbean, finding one of its most celebrated interpretations with singer Xiomara Alfaro's 1972 recording. Among Rivas' other work during the golden age of Caribbean Latin music, his composition "Ashes" is probably the second-best-known. Rivas' boleros were recorded by artists like Perez Prado, Lola Beltran, Javier Solis, and many others, right up to his death. ~ Steve Huey
