Whirlaway formed in Florida in 1999. Immediately, the quartet was signed by Spy-Fi Records to release their debut EP, A Soundstream Broadcast. Entirely written, recorded and produced by the band, the disc's sonic assault on listeners translated well to record. The first single "Sunelectric" became a modest college radio hit. 2000 began with the release of the single Distance, which whetted fans appetites for the release of the band's sophomore effort, Letting Go. The band's dream pop sound continued to win over new fans and received radio airplay despite the seven-plus minute length of some of the songs. After touring to support Letting Go, tWhirlaway worked on the followup, Pompano, which was set for a split-release on Tonevendor Records and Parasol Records in early 2004. ~ Stephen CramerPortions of Content Provided by Rovi Corporation.
