Birmingham Jones

Biography

b. Wright Birmingham, 9 January 1937, Saginaw, Michigan, USA. Moving to Chicago around 1950, Jones was a saxophonist and guitarist with various blues bands throughout the 50s. By the middle of the decade, when he recorded for Ebony, he was a talented Little Walter imitator on harmonica. A 1965 session for Vivid was unissued for many years, and did not live up to the promise of the Ebony 78. Jones returned to club work, but had largely retired from the music business by the mid-70s.
