Biography

One of the most innovative conductors around, Dennis Russell Davies has performed with the best orchestras the world of classical music and opera have to offer. Davis was born in Ohio in 1944. He later moved to New York to study piano and conducting at the Juilliard School of Music; in 1968 he began to conduct the school's ensemble. He became the musical director for the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in 1972. In 1980, Davies moved to Germany, but continued to perform in the United States, as well as other countries.
