Born in Akron, Ohio, R&B singer, songwriter, producer, and musician James Ingram came to prominence as a member of the band Revelation Funk in early-1970s Los Angeles, where he also worked as a session musician. Projects with Ray Charles, ex-Motown producer Lamont Dozier and, most notably, Quincy Jones proved pivotal for the artist.
