UK dance act originally comprising Eamon Downes and Shane Heneghan, until the latter party left. Downes claimed that he called himself Liquid because of his liking for ‘the odd drink'. Early influences were dub maestros such as Barrington Levy and Scientist. Liquid became one of the first progressive house acts in the UK Top 20, with 1992's ‘Sweet Harmony', recorded as a duo, conceived as a reaction to the ‘louder faster' rules of hardcore rave music.
