Lillian Maring, the drummer/vocalist for San Francisco indie punk trio Grass Widow, began Ruby Pins as a slow-forming solo side project in 2010. Maring wrote songs inspired by dreams her friends had about her, recording from time to time on an old computer set up with a single microphone. She then posted these songs as rough demos on a tumblr page in between tours with the ever-busy Grass Widow.
