Biography

Although it plays music in the style of 1920's Chicago and has an exotic name, the West Jemond Rhythm Kings are actually from the United Kingdom. Its founder trumpeter Mike Durham has a day job selling soap for Proctor & Gamble! Although he did not play much music during 1964-79, in 1980 Durham returned to performing trad jazz and he has continued developing since then. Durham formed the Kobe Stompers while in Japan (1980-82) and then, when he returned to England in 1983, he founded the West Jemond Rhythm Kings.
