The Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court is blocking the state from issuing same-sex marriage licenses. Judge Roy Moore issued the ruling today, saying a previous order by the court in March remains in effect.
Moore also warned probate judges not to issue any marriage license contrary to state law. He explained that today's order is aimed at clearing up the uncertainty over the conflict between the state court's ruling and the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriages in June.
