(NEWSER) – "I prayed about this; I know that God would not go around with pants down.” That's the reasoning Dadeville City Council member Frank Goodman gave when proposing an ordinance banning sagging pants last month, the Alex City Outlook reports.

Now, the Alabama town of a few thousand is also considering banning short shorts and mini-skirts in the name of gender equality, according to AL.com. "I think for the girls, with these shorts up so high looking like under garments and dresses so short, I don’t want us to be showing favoritism," council member Stephanie Kelley said in support of her proposal to expand the sagging pants ordinance during a council meeting Tuesday.
