Bobbi Kristina Brown and Nick Gordon are not a legally married couple. Her father Bobby Brown's lawyer released a new statement Tuesday revealing that the 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston never officially tied the knot.
The lawyer clarifies that the two "[are] not and [have] never been married" -- despite her grand surprise announcement on social media last January.
Bobbi Kristina and Nick's relationship started as a shock to many fans, as Whitney had taken Nick into her home at a young age and treated him as a son. The two announced their engagement just months after her death in 2012, and posted photos wearing wedding bands on Twitter in early 2014.
If Kristina and Nick are really not married, if Bobbi Kristina took a turn for the worse (knock on wood), Nick would not be entitled to any of Whitney's fortune left to Bobbi.
Brown's lawyer also says the events that led to Bobbi Kristina's hospitalization are still under investigation, and the family continues to request privacy.
Meanwhile Bobbi Kristina has reportedly been moved to another hospital. CNN says she was moved to Atlanta's Emory University Monday following treatment at the North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia. That's where she was rushed to Saturday after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Roswell home in a scenario eerily similar to her mother's death in 2012.
Doctors at North Fulton placed Bobbi Kristina in a medically-induced coma upon her arrival to the hospital. Her family followed up in a statement saying she was "fighting for her life."
Bobbi Kristina's father, singer Bobby Brown, and her husband Nick Gordon, are among those who have reportedly gathered at her bedside.
