Chicago protesters are calling for the resignation of Mayor Rahm Emanuel for the handling of the 2014 police shooting of a black teen. Hundreds of protesters have gathered near Daley Plaza and are blocking traffic on several downtown streets. At least two people were taken into custody and released soon after.
Demonstrators are angry with the way the mayor handled the 2014 fatal police shooting of black teen Laquan McDonald. The unrest has also been sparked by the release of dash-cam video showing a number of incidents of alleged abuse by police. Earlier today, Emanuel apologized for the police shooting of McDonald and acknowledged it happened on his watch.
