Authorities in Northern Illinois say an officer was shot this morning and that a manhunt is on for three suspects.  Lake County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Covelli said two of the suspects are white males and another is a black male.  There are reports the officer has died from his wounds but Covelli did not mention the officer's condition.  The shooting occurred this morning shortly before 8 a.m. in Fox Lake, which is about 60 miles northwest of Chicago.

Covelli says the officer was responding to three suspicious people and radioed in that he was chasing them on foot.  Contact with the officer was lost and a backup officer found him with a gunshot wound.  The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force is leading the investigation.
