Five People Shot, Including An Infant, On Chicagonewser

(NEWSER) – As of just Monday, already more than 100 people have been shot in Chicago this year. Police say the tally soared over the weekend when seven were shot dead and 30 others were injured by gunfire, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Among the shootings were two teenagers gunned down on the South Side by a store clerk during a robbery, and three people shot (one fatally) during a party only a few blocks from the house of Mayor Rahm Emanuel. According to one online tally of Chicago gun violence this year, 19 have been killed and 101 have been shot and wounded. By the same date in 2015, only 31 had been injured and nine killed by gunfire.
