Eric Church, Marty Stuart, and Emmylou Harris are among the stars showing their respect for a music legend. The country singers are just a few of the artists on board for "I'll Take You There - Celebrating 75 Years of Mavis Staples."
Mavis tells the Chicago Sun-Times she's "so filled up with joy" over the many "friends" who've agreed to appear. The lineup also features Gregg Allman, Michael McDonald, and Aaron Neville, as well as Grace Potter, Ryan Bingham, and others.
Mavis admits she "originally wanted to sing with everybody" -- an idea that didn't exactly meet the approval of her manager. But she says she will perform, adding that Stuart is one of the stars she's planning to sing with.
"I'll Take You There" commemorates Mavis' 75th birthday, which she celebrated in July. The tribute concert is set for Chicago's Auditorium Theater Wednesday night. The show will be filmed and recorded for a future release.
