The annual Grammy Awards show is the biggest musical event of the year, honoring music across every genre you can think of. Thankfully, this includes a genre that has been continually growing across America: dance music. During a telecasted nominations concert, all of the nominees were announced for 2013's awards, and the dance music categories include some powerful names in the industry like Swedish House Mafia, Eric Prydz, The Chemical Brothers, Avicii, and Tommy Trash.
This is Trash's very first grammy nomination, and he couldn't be happier, writing on his Twitter, "jst got my 1st grammy nom for my rmx of @deadmau5 "the veldt." pretty f*****g stoked right now! thx to every1 who supported it!"
Even his signature long, messy hair shared its excitement:
I just got nominated for a Grammy - best supporting live act during a remix!!— Tommy Trash's hair (@TommyTrashsHair) December 6, 2012
Tommy has really made a name for himself in the dance music industry with his electrifying tunes, but his hair should really be nominated for its own award too. It will look amazing with his Tux on the red carpet. However, it does face stiff competition from another long-haired Grammy nominee, up for Best Dance Music/Elelctronica Album, Steve Aoki.
It looks like Diplo has expressed himself all the way to a Grammy nomination this year. The super producer was nominated for Producer of the Year, for his work with artists like Usher, Marina and the Diamonds, Justin Bieber (yeah that's right!), and many more.
What! Grammys again! I better get my nice suit dry cleaned this time instagr.am/p/S4oAORKMoC/— dıpןo (@diplo) December 6, 2012
As if there needs to be further proof that dubstep is becoming more than just a trend in dance music, Skrillex locked down 3 wonderfully wubby Grammy nominations in the three categories. This year he is nominated for Best Dance Recording, Best Dance/Electronica Album, and Best Remixed Recording.
Will he perform at 2013's Grammy Awards show again? That has yet to be announced, but we're hoping dance music is somehow represented in the performances of the night.
