(WISN) The FBI in Milwaukee announced Tuesday that it had thwarted a lone wolf terror attack targeting a Masonic Temple in Milwaukee.
Sami Mohammed Hamzeh, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of machine guns and a silencer after he allegedly planned a mass shooting at the unspecified temple and made extensive preparations with two undercover FBI agents posing as terrorists.
According to a federal criminal complaint, Hamzeh originally planned to travel to Jordan and then travel to the West Bank to attack Israeli soldiers and civilians there in September. The following month, he changed his mind and settled on a domestic terror attack in Milwaukee and was put under surveillance.
He began making extensive preparations for this attack, purchasing two machine guns and at least one silencer and taking a tour of the temple last week.
Afterwards, he solidified his plans in recorded phone calls with one of the undercover agents.
"One of us will stay at the door at the entrance and lock the door down, he will be at the main door down, two will get to the lift up, they will enter the room, and spray everyone in the room," Hamzeh said. "The one who is standing downstairs will spray anyone he finds. We will shoot them, kill them and get out. We will walk and walk, after a while, we will be covered as if it is cold, and we’ll take the covers off and dump them in a corner and keep on walking, as if nothing happened, as if everything is normal."
