David Letterman’s favorite band, Foo Fighters, closed out the Late Show with a powerful performance of the host’s favorite song, “Everlong.”

Accompanied by a highlight reel of memories, the band’s version lasted over five and a half minutes. The montage included some of Dave’s best guests such as Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen and more.

After Letterman underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2000, the host asked Foo Fighters to be the musical guest upon his return. On that night, Letterman famously said, “It’s my favorite band playing my favorite song.” The group performed “Everlong” on that night as well.
