A Kentucky clerk jailed last year for declining to hand out same-sex marriage licenses is attending President Obama's final State of the Union address tonight. Kim Davis was briefly behind bars for contempt after refusing to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.
The conservative Christian lobbying group Family Research Council reserved Davis a seat for the speech. Jim Obergefell was the plaintiff in the case that led to same-sex marriage legalization and will be a guest of the president.
