Kanye West’s controversial tweets became Oscars fodder when celebrities were asked to read them aloud at Sunday’s Vanity Fair party.

West’s Twitter account has raised eyebrows for years, but perhaps never more so than over the last two months. As Gossip Cop has reported, the rapper has been using the social media site to feud with Wiz Khalifa, slam Taylor Swift, rip into the Grammys and generally make bizarre statements. The missives, though, are highly quotable and ripe for interpretation.

And that gave Vanity Fair the genius idea to have celebrities read some of the tweets as they walked the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards bash. Among the stars who took part were James Corden, Patrick Stewart, Emily Ratajkowski, J.J. Abrams, Michael Strahan, Martin Short, Maria Menounos, Conan O’Brien, Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaling, Will Arnett, Topher Grace, and even Monica Lewinsky. Two past Oscar winners, Whoopi Goldberg and Hilary Swank, were more than game, too.

The resulting video of all the participants cut together is pretty priceless. Menounos, who has some acting experience with “One Tree Hill,” gave a particularly emotional reading of, “It’s a beautiful time. I love my friends. I love my family. I love people. The human race.” Arnett, Abrams, Swank, and O’Brien all favored uncomfortable intensity. And Patrick Stewart actually dropped an f-bomb. Watch above!
