Prince is giving those who haven't picked up his new albums a taste of what they're missing. He was given special treatment as last weekend's musical guest on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." Instead of appearing twice during the show he was given one extended time block to perform. The eight-minute jam included guest vocalist Lianne La Havas, who joined Prince for their duet "Clouds" from his album Art Official Age.
Prince and 3rdEyeGirl then dove into the songs "Marz" and "AnotherLove" from their new album Plectrumelectrum. And a good number of people reportedly tuned in for his performance.
According to "The Wrap," Nielsen's preliminary numbers show that Saturday's installment was the highest rated episode of "SNL" this season. It also marked Prince's third time appearing on the show. He last graced the "SNL" stage in February 2006, and made his "SNL" debut in February 1981.
