The Department of Justice is actively searching for a suspect involved in an attack on the office of Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba in New Jersey. On Wednesday night (November 12), an individual attempted to confront Habba, causing property damage before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, Habba was unharmed during the incident.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the attack on Thursday (November 13), emphasizing that violence against federal officers will not be tolerated. "We will find this person, and the individual will be brought to justice," Bondi stated, highlighting the commitment of law enforcement to protect federal officers and hold offenders accountable. The incident is part of a concerning trend of attacks against law enforcement agents across the country, according to Bondi.

Habba, who was sworn in as the interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey on March 28, 2025, oversees federal criminal prosecutions and civil litigations in the state. Her office manages locations in Newark, Camden, and Trenton. Following the attack, Habba expressed her determination to continue her work, stating, "I will not be intimidated by radical lunatics for doing my job."

The Justice Department is using all available legal tools to ensure the safety of its officers and bring the suspect to justice. Further details about the attack remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.
