Vocalist and songwriter Alissa Griffith spent most of her life in California before she moved to Nashville, and her music reflects the polish of West Coast pop as well as the down-to-earth lyrical perspective of contemporary country. Griffith's earliest release, the track "The Gospel According to Ellen," had a Christian slant and showed a strong country influence, but when she came into her own with songs like "Glasses" and "What I've Been Missin'," she embraced a more sophisticated melodic sense and production style that brought out the pop side of her musical personality.
