A native of St. Paul, MN, Kathy Jenkins grew up listening to her father's Irish tenor and her mother's torchy renditions of songs Judy Garland sang. She joined her school choir, took guitar lessons, and sang along with Barbra Streisand records. She then took up folk singing at local clubs while still in high school and later joined a band singing Top 40 and country rock. But it wasn't until Jenkins joined the Air Force and became part of the Air Force Band that she discovered the joys and rewards of singing jazz music as she performed in Europe and throughout the United States...
