Scotland-born Michael Dodds grew up listening to electronic groups including Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode, and began collecting keyboards and drum machines. He started producing tracks under the name Rolanoid, in tribute to Roland's seminal TR-808 rhythm machine. Relocating across the globe several times throughout his life, Dodds has been based in Australia for most of his musical career.
