Tai Chi is an underground rapper who began his career in Michigan before moving down South to Atlanta in search of greater opportunities. Born Tychius Dequa Marti on August 1, 1981, in East St. Louis, IL, he was raised in Grand Rapids, MI, and began rapping at a young age. He made his recording debut at age 16 with Raw Power: Intro to 97 (1997) and continued to periodically release albums such as Show the World (2002).
