The duo Tonico e Tinoco, formed by brothers João Salvador Pérez (Tonico) and José Pérez (Tinoco), was highly influential and shaped, in great extent, other duos in the "caipira" (hillbilly) genre. In almost 50 years, they launched over 1,400 songs, 85 78 rpm albums, 30 singles, 81 LPs, and 17 CDs (including collections). Winners of two Prêmio Sharp Awards, their albums sold 50 million copies, they performed 15,000 shows, and participated in six films.
