Mad Decent Block Party 2016 Brooklyn

The 2016 Mad Decent Block Party Tour is well underway and descended upon Brooklyn, New York at Coney Island's MCU Park over the weekend (Aug. 6th & 7th), featuring an awesome lineup of DJs and performers. And despite some rain on Day One, the weekend was filled with amazing music, some delicious hot dogs -- a staple of Coney Island if you're unaware -- and a lot of dancing. This year's lineup for Brooklyn included Diplo, DJ Snake, Dillon Francis, Kesha, Zeds Dead, Tory Lanez, Slushii, Alison Wonderland, Gryffin, BOI-1DA, Party Khan, Boombox Cartel, Big Wild, Neo Fresco, and Fki lST -- PLUS a surprise performance from Drake.

Check out some of the best moments from this year's stop at the 2016 Mad Decent Block Party in Brooklyn:

Surprise! Drake showed up.

Drake was in town for several concerts on his "Summer Sixteen Tour" at Madison Square Garden. So while in New York City, he surprised everyone with an impromptu performance during BOI-1DA's set. Drizzy performed songs like "Jumpman," "Energy," "Back To Back," and his new collaboration with DJ Khaled “For Free.”

Tory Lanez shows the crowd some LUV. Literally.

First of all, if you've haven't seen Tory perform live yet, you are doing yourself a disservice. Not only is he FULL of energy, his talent really shines through on stage. At Mad Decent, he may have hit the stage rapping, but he let his vocals soar when he started singing -- and BOY. CAN. SING. He even sang a few songs acapella, including some throwback '90s covers like Ginuwine's "Pony." But Tory decided to do one better for his fans, and jumped into the crowd where he kept performing, held up in the air by all of the Mad Decent Block Party-goers. He finished his set with his hit single "Luv." We defintely luv Tory.

Alison Wonderland is our new favorite.

In a genre dominated by males, it's artists like Alison Wonderland that completely blow you away. The Australian DJ/producer radiated a high-energy set for the crowd at MCU Park in Coney Island, New York. Throughout the set, as she played songs she would talk to the crowd about what they mean to her, which is something most DJs don't really do. From songs about dealing with depression, to songs about being cheated on, to songs that simply make her happy, it was easy to connect with her, even if you're just getting to know her and her music. At one point, telling the crowd to "keep an open mind," she even played a electro/heavy metal-sounding tune ... not to mention a little Justin Bieber!

Dillon. Francis.

Despite an extremely busy touring schedule, keeping Gerald in check, and surviving antics in Las Vegas with Phantoms as hilariously documented on Snapchat, Dillon Francis made a stop in Brooklyn for this year's Mad Decent Block Party. Opening with the Pokémon theme song, MCU went wild for the the producer/DJ throughout his entire set, during which he played his new single "Candy," and ended with a remix of his collaboration with Kygo, "Coming Over."

Diplo closes out Day One

There cannot be a Mad Decent Block Party without Diplo, so naturally, there was no one better to close out Day One of this year's festivities. Playing favorites like Jack Ü's "Take You There," among many others, he hopped up on the DJ booth to speak to his crowd, proclaiming that the Brooklyn Mad Decent Block Party was one of the craziest stops on the tour throughout the years, and that this year was to be no exception. It's safe to say his wish came true.

Kesha's BACK!

It's been a tough few years for Kesha, but despite everything that has happened during that time, the singer is back out on tour, and joined the Mad Decent Block Party lineup this summer. Dressed in a colorful outfit, as Kesha does, Kesha and the Creepies hit the stage at MCU Park and performed songs including "Your Love Is My Drug," "Tik ToK," and more. We missed her. <3

DJ Snake closes out the MDBP stop following the release of his debut album

The weekend of August 6th &7th was a big one for DJ Snake, because on Friday, August 5th, the star producer/DJ released his debut album ENCORE. So what better way to celebrate the release of his first artist album, than by closing out with the headlining spot during the Brooklyn stop at the Mad Decent Block Party?!
