Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner will not be running against John Katko next year, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t running for office.
Miner issued a statement which read that after thoughtful consideration and conversations with her family she will not run for congress.

It was speculated that the term-limited Mayor of Syracuse was considering challenging incumbent Republican John Katko to represent Central New York in the House of Representatives.
The announcement still leaves open the possibility that she could challenge Governor Cuomo in a primary election next year. In September Miner had this to say to a PBS Station about the Governor being vulnerable in a primary.

The Governor has a tough road to reelection ahead of him. In addition to retrials of the disgraced leaders of the State Senate and Assembly for corruption, a top adviser to Cuomo will also have his own corruption trial play out next year.
