Carly Pearce on Debut Album, Celebrity Reactions & More

Back in February, Carly Pearce released her debut single "Every Little Thing," and over the span of the last eight months, the country singer/songwriter released her debut album of the same name, and is well on her way to becoming the next big thing in country music.   

Every Little Thing features 13 new songs including the title track (which is the lead single), and other previously-released songs like "If My Name Was Whiskey," "Hide The Wine," "Color," "I Need a Ride Home," and "Dare Ya." And on her debut album, Carly worked with star producer busbee (Maren Morris, Lady Antebellum). 

Carly explains to iHeartRadio of her new album:

"It's so exciting. I've always dreamt of making an album, and I think that every artist would tell you that you only get to make your debut album once, and it's a really special time. Just to finally feel like people are going to start associating me with an album instead of a song, and hopefully in return know me as a name and not as 'Every Little Thing' or the girl that sings 'Every Little Thing,' is just really exciting. I'm just really excited to be able to share a whole piece of work with an audience."

FAVORITE EVERY LITTLE THING SONG:

"Probably 'Every Little Thing,' just because it was what everything started with. And it's also just a really personal story for me."

FAVORITE LYRIC YOU WROTE FOR THIS ALBUM:

"In a song called 'You Know Where to Find Me,' there's a lyric in the first verse that says, 'Down that no name county road past where the cigarettes grow.' And I'm from Kentucky, and we're known for tobacco."

FAVORITE MOMENT FROM THE STUDIO WORKING WITH BUSBEE:

"So many moments. I think when we were able to bring in the dobro player and the electric guitar player that have been playing with me since I was 18, that was a pretty special moment to have them be a part of it."

FAVORITE CELEBRITY REACTION TO EVERY LITTLE THING:

"What Kelsea said was really, really unbelievably kind. I'm really lucky just to have her as a friend, but also just somebody who from a very early on part of my career took me on as her opening act on a lot of her shows, and took me under her wing, I feel like the way that Taylor Swift took her under her wing. And I would say that Kevin Jonas was pretty funny, just because I don't know any girl in her 20s that wasn't a closet Jonas Brothers fan. And I would say Reba. I had a notification that she had tweeted me, and I was like, 'Please have the blue check mark so that I know it's not some impersonator, and I'm getting excited for nothing.'"

And she invited you to have some wine?!

"Yep, so I think I'm gonna drink, like, a bottle before so that I'm not nervous."

FAVORITE WINE:

"It depends. If I'm paying for it, on that cheap artist budget, I would say Freakshow Cabernet, but if somebody else is being sweet and gifting me, like Busby or Scott Borchetta at my record label, Caymus Cabernet."

You have a song on your album called "Hide The Wine." So where's the best place to hide the wine?

"Not in my house because I'll find it and drink it."

FAVORITE PIECE OF ADVICE SOMEONE'S GIVEN YOU:

"I would say be 100% true to you. I think that the moment that I really let that sink in, that's something that you're told from a very young age and it's just old hat, but when I really started to pay attention to what that really meant, I think all parts of my personality and my artistry finally were shining."

FAVORITE ARTIST THAT INSPIRES YOU:

"Dolly Parton. I used to work at Dollywood in the country show, and she is the ultimate queen of being a true artist, a true visionary and a true businesswoman."

FAVORITE COLOR:

"My favorite color is blue. I feel like I always gravitate towards the tealish, kinda lighter blue. It's all over my house."

FAVORITE FOOD OF ALL TIME:

"I'm a huge guacamole fan, so just whatever involves that, chips, guacamole, Mexican food."

FAVORITE THING TO WEAR:

"I have the largest collection of booties known to man, so those."
