Johnny Manziel may be on the way back to professional football. ESPN reports the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League have offered Manziel a contract. Hamilton has owned Manziel's CFL rights for multiple years. The organization now appears closer than ever to signing the former Heisman Trophy winner. Manziel last played professionally for the Cleveland Browns in 2015, and threw for 1,500 yards, 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 10 games that season. Inconsistent play, alleged substance abuse, legal issues, and clashes with Cleveland's front office led to his departure from the Browns and the NFL.
He won the Heisman Trophy in 2012 as a redshirt freshman at Texas A&M.
