Housing Boom Returning in Lucas County?

(Monclova Twp., OH) A large Monclova Township housing development could get the green light later today. 

The Lucas County Plan Commission is being asked to approve the Stoney Creek subdivision, which would mean more than 280 new homes on a 140-acre site along U-S 20-A. West Valley Development first proposed the subdivision about 18 months ago. 

There is some concern that the new housing could increase the student population at Anthony Wayne local schools, as well an increase traffic by 25 percent at a proposed roundabout by the Lucas County engineer's office at Albon and Salisbury Roads to about 12,000 vehicles per day at that intersection near the subdivision.

The county plan commission also could give approval today to a Sylvania Township housing development. 

The proposed Quarry Ridge subdivision would build 50 villas and 114 single-family homes on 53 acres near Pacesetter Park in Sylvania Township. The Toledo developer needs two zoning changes and approval of preliminary drawings for the project along Brint Road to move forward, but plan commission staff is recommending approval. 

The location offers a lot of recreation within walking and biking distance, located near Fossil Park, Centennial Terrace and the Quarry Ridge bike trail.
