Vinnie Paul's Public Memorial Will be Held in Dallas This Weekend

On Wednesday night (June 27), Pantera announced a public celebration of life to commemorate the band's co-founder and drummer, Vinnie Paul Abbott. The memorial is set to be held at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas on Sunday July 1 at 3:33 p.m. The line for wristbands will begin at noon the same day. No tickets will be sold in advance.
Vinnie Paul passed away early in the morning on June 23. He was only 54 years old. Though his cause of death has not yet been confirmed, according to reports he died of a massive heart attack in his sleep on the night of June 22nd. Once the autopsy has been complete, his remains will be delivered to his home state of Texas, where he will be buried beside his his mother and brother, legendary Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.

Since his passing, acts like Avenged Sevenfold and Megadeth have paid onstage tributes to the late drummer, friends like Kid Rock have honored him via social media, and bands like Sevendust have recounted memories they had with the influential heavy metal musician. The surviving members of Pantera made a statement following Vinnie Paul's death admitting they need more time to process their feelings.
