XXXTentacion Attends His Own Funeral in Eerie 'SAD!' Video

A day after XXXTentacion's public memorial in Florida, the late rapper's team released the visuals for "SAD!"—a six-minute-long clip written and creative directed by X himself that plays out more like a short film than a music video.

The clip begins with a pair of eyes set to a black background as X is met with Gekyume, a word the South Florida made up that refers to a different state or next universe of thought. Subtitles scroll on the screen, asking general questions about X's being as the darkness fades and we see him walk down a church aisle and arrive at an open casket with a former version of himself inside.

We then see Gekyume's physical form, which is reminiscent of the grim reaper. X sits in a dark room, head bowed, as the words "You will spread love throughout the world, praise and joy unto my name and change the overall cycle of energy we are digesting," run along the screen.

X then hauls the former version of himself out of the casket and brutally attacks it until it's dead (again?). The eerie video ends with the rapper back in Gekyume's presence, while the words "You have done well at battling yourself. Your demons seem to honor your efforts. Are you satisfied," scroll on the bottom of the screen.

Watch the artful, somber video below.

The 20-year-old rapper was shot and killed  in his car on June 18 while shopping for motorcycles. Since then, the hip hop community has paid tribute to the genre-bending rapper and artists have held their own memorials to honor him.
