Cardi B Explains Why She Named Her Daughter Kulture

On July 10, Cardi B gave birth to her first child, a baby girl. She and husband Offset named their little one Kulture Kiari Cephus. The middle and last names make sense, as her father's real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, but why Kulture?

Fans speculated the unique name pays tribute to Offset's group, Migos' first two albums, which are called Culture and Culture II. But the new momma gave her own explanation for the name on Twitter the day after her daughter was born, and it's the most Cardi reasoning ever.

“anything else woulda been basic," she wrote on Wednesday (July 11), followed by her signature "Okrrrrr."

Cardi revealed back in April that Offset had named their baby. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the topic of the baby's name came up. "Yeah, my dude named the baby. I really like the name. I'm going to let him say the name since he named the baby. It's almost tricky but when it comes out, it's like 'Ahhhh,'" the 25-year-old star explained.

Kulture's arrival couldn't have been more perfectly timed, as her parents grace the cover of Rolling Stone's July issue—and she does too, inside her mom's belly.
